The Hellruler Codex
Everything in the game, straight from its data. If it is here, it is in the descent.
What Hellruler is
A free loot RPG in the browser. Your hero fights down floor after floor of monsters, run on the server and played back to you; after every floor the loot is shown one card at a time; builds are made from gear, the passive tree and your skills; the arena ranks you against other players' builds and guilds raid a weekly boss together. Play as a guest in one tap, no download.
How the descent works
You start at depth 1 in the Dying Fields and go down one floor at a time. Every floor is a road of packs from the zone's roster, scaled to that depth and led by the depth's named monster; every 100th floor is a gate led by a boss, and nothing below it opens until that floor is cleared. Past the Gates of Hell at depth 1,000 comes the Ante-Hell: nine zones of 500 depths each, from the Vestibule down to the Acheron. Then the Nine Circles, 2,000 depths each, then the Foundations beneath the floor of hell, 8,500 each, and from depth 100,001 the Heart of Hell, which scales forever.
Every monster is one of 9 types read off its name — a Knight blocks and strikes back, an Imp poisons, a Mage deals the zone's element whole — and every zone has an element you can dress for before you go in; the Bestiary lists what each type deals and asks of you.
Floors drop items, and salvaging them pays souls. An item is a base with an implicit, plus rolled affixes; a unique is a named item that changes a rule of combat and always carries the same four affixes on the same base; an ancient belongs to a set that trades six slots for a rule of its own. Uniques and ancients fall from the Risings; a floor drop is a unique only once in 100,000, and never an ancient. Builds are what you make of those pieces: bleed, poison, ignite, shock, chill, impale, crit, block, dodge, barrier, thorns, and the uniques that push each one past what plain affixes allow. The rules a floor runs on are laid out under Combat.
How to use the Codex
The tables are generated from the game's data at build time. Zone pages tell you what waits at a depth and how hard it hits; boss pages show the card of each gate — health, damage and modifiers; unique pages show the item rolled at three depths so you can compare two candidates honestly. Modifier, affix and title pages are the glossary the rest links into.
